Shifting Mindsets | How Your Boudoir Shoot is Self Care

Self care has become quite the buzzword in our world. While glimpses of bubble baths, manicures, and shopping sprees fill our minds when we hear the words, what does self care actually mean for us?

At its core, self care is the art of taking care of yourself mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. It can range from learning how to say “no” to forgiving yourself for past mistakes. It can involve spa days or it may mean spending an hour writing in your journal. There isn’t one size fits all way to explore self care and all its benefits.

A boudoir photoshoot is a tremendous act of self care! How? You are telling yourself and your body “I’m ready to celebrate you and our journey together.” It doesn’t get much more intimate than that.

Let’s dive into the ways boudoir photography promotes self care and positive attitudes around your body.

Show Yourself a Little Love

Women are notorious for giving of themselves day in and day out. We put the needs of others before our own while putting our own desires and dreams on the back burner. We’ve become hard-wired to reward everybody around us, but not ourselves.

Boudoir photography puts the emphasis on you. With a slew of outfits hanging on the rack, full makeup and hair treatment, and then photos where you feel like a badass? That’s what we’re all about! Through this, you’re making yourself a priority and choosing intimacy with yourself for a window of time.

And while I’ve heard the “I’ll do it when I lose a few more pounds” phrase repeatedly, let me be the first to remind you: you’re everything you need to be in this very moment. And that is plenty of reason to celebrate.

Step Into Your Empowerment

What are some things that make YOU feel empowered? Did boudoir make it on your list? It should! While a session of strutting your stuff and feeling divine is empowering, I love focusing on the other benefits, too. This session can completely change how you see yourself going forward.

Society and culture have ingrained what “flaws” look like and how to avoid them, but during a photoshoot with me? They become unique little signs of how your body has carried you this far in life. Do we all have insecurities? Of course! But that doesn’t mean you can’t see your insecurities and still love exactly what you are and how far you’ve come. Empowerment starts within our highest self and trickles down into your day-to-day life.

Embrace All of You

Can you remember the last time you did something 100% for yourself? A boudoir photoshoot means you can solely focus on what makes you happy, empowered, and special. I love watching women bloom in front of my camera. It’s such a special moment.

These shoots are a moment to appreciate your strength, beauty, fierce determination, and everything else that makes you feel like a goddess inside and out.

Ready to take the leap? I’m ready to have you in my studio!
