Latoya’s Journey
Journeys come in all shapes and sizes, and mine isn’t much different. If we haven’t met before, hi there and welcome. I’m Latoya, a boudoir photographer, sex doula, and feminine embodiment coach. My story is nothing like what I expected, with multiple changes, difficulties, and diversions along the way, but I’m thankful for every chapter.
We all dream a little differently with what we want to do in life. As a teen, I thought of trying my hand at journalism as I have a way with words and love writing. By the 11th grade, I realized I didn’t enjoy my professor critiquing my writing and abandoned journalism in favor of science and math. They were always a fun challenge for me, and I put my all into learning.
A few years later, I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering! Quite a different career choice from what I love now. I started my career at a Fortune 50 company and had every intention of earning six figures, working myself up the corporate ladder, and settling into a corner office. But, after five years at the company, my plans fizzled out as they laid me off. Instead of finding a different engineering position, I took my photography business full-time.
Now I embrace my time and passions by watching women step into their power while recognizing their own worthiness and beauty. I adore watching them come to life before me and embrace everything that makes them unique. Empowerment runs between both of us as I watch them embrace their bodies in a new way. I’ve learned so much from my clients over the years.
Outside of my work life (while important is not all that I am) I'm a wife and mom to two beautiful kids who inspire me in totally different ways. My firstborn was the one who inspired me to begin my journey of creating financial freedom outside of my job, while my daughter inspires me to do deep work on the liberation of women by acknowledging their own intrinsic value. Motherhood has drastically changed my journey, and both relationships were pivotal to my growth. I’m so thankful for them.
With all the changes along my course, I look back with gratitude and forward with excitement. There isn’t a thing I would change about my life as it would disrupt everything else in the timeline, even the most incredible things. Everything happens for a reason and I’m right where I need to be.
To those who are wondering “can I make my passion a career”, a word of advice: focus on your own superpowers. Businesses will always be there, but if you can take time to reach into yourself and understand what makes you eager, you’ll fulfill both yourself and others while aligning to your higher purpose. Lean into it.
